To provide thorough theory and practical training in operating abrasive wheels, to enable you to pass the theory and practical assessments.

Who should attend?

Anyone who operates any abrasive wheeled device.

 

On completion of course:

5 year LANTRA card and certificate

 

Minimum age:

16

 

Venue:

·         We have a site situated in the Ribble Valley, ideally suited for carrying out this course, which includes:

·         Equipment.

·         The manufacturer’s operator’s manual (MOM) readily accessible for the appropriate machines.

·         Equipment for securing the workplace e.g. clamping / vice/ cutting jig.

·         Suitable materials to cut and / or grind will be available.

·         Speed gauge and / or tachometer.

·         Tool kit.

·         Welfare facilities.

·         Indoor space for completing theory aspects of the course.

·         Risk assessments.

 

PPE:

Please provide-

·         100% cotton or cotton-rich coveralls, with legs and arms covered for cutting and / or grinding with indoor equipment.

·         Respiratory equipment (FFP3).

·         Leather apron (bench mounted).

·         Suitable eye protection and full-face protection.

·         Hearing protection, with appropriate single number rating (SNR).

·         Safety helmet and safety gloves (leather or raw hide).

·         Suitable work boots including steel toe protection.

·         High Visibility clothing.

  • Carry out daily maintenance on petrol powered machines (disc cutters and cut-off saws).
  • Operate the equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • The regulations governing the use of such equipment.
